Paulo the Urban Farmer shows you that you can grow passion fruit in temperate climates as long as you use the micro climate of an urban situation or poly tunnel. The most common scenarios is people grow Passioflora for the flowers but never get any fruit. If you can provide a warm wall even better a polytunnel you can grow them for the fruit which can be used in flavourings or preserves. A great fruiting vine for the food forest or permaculture garden. Paulo explains the best ad easiest way to grow garlic at home or urban farm. Not only is garlic very easy to grow it takes very cold temperatures to get going. Garlic can also be grown for the leaves during late winter making it a great way to fill the hungry gap.
Traditionally Garlic is grown until mid summer when it dies back you can then pull them up to reveal the swollen bulbs. Bulbs are usually left I the hot sun for a couple of days to harden the outer shells to make storing easier, they can then be strung up in a cool airy place all winter for use in the urban farmers kitchen.
